On the morning of 8 December 2025, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and His Excellency PHAM Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, held a bilateral meeting on the occasion of the official inauguration of the Meun Chey (Prey Veng Province, Cambodia) – Tan Nam (Tay Ninh Province, Vietnam) International Border Checkpoint.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese Prime Minister expressed his great pleasure and extended a warm welcome to Samdech Thipadei and the Cambodian delegation. He congratulated and highly commended the official inauguration of the Meun Chey–Tan Nam International Border Checkpoint, describing it as a new achievement that reflects the progress of bilateral relations and co-operation. He further congratulated Cambodia on itsachievements in ensuring political stability and socio-economic development, which have contributed to the continuous improvement of people’s livelihoods. He also expressed firm confidence that, under the wise leadership of Samdech Thipadei, Cambodia will continue to progress across all sectors. The Vietnamese Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening and deepening bilateral relations and co-operation.

In response, Samdech Thipadei expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Prime Minister for the warm welcome and highly valued the fruitful outcomes of the meeting on co-operation and development between the Cambodia–Vietnam border provinces. Samdech Thipadei encouraged the provinces along the border of both countries to continue their joint efforts to develop the border areas into zones of peace, friendship, stability, co-operation, and development for mutual benefit, in the spirit of “Good Neighbourliness, Traditional Friendship, Comprehensive Co-operation, and Long-lasting Stability.” He noted that the inauguration of the Meun Chey–Tan Nam Border Checkpoint is a testament to the positive evolution of bilateral relations and co-operation. Additionally, he praised Vietnam’s development across all sectors and conveyed his profound condolences to the Government and people of Vietnam regarding the recent floods that caused loss of life and property damage.

The two heads of government also discussed and exchanged views on further strengthening and expanding bilateral co-operation, focusing on key sectors including politics, economy, trade and investment, defence and security, education and training, health, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and infrastructure connectivity between the two nations. Moreover, Samdech Thipadei and the Vietnamese Prime Minister agreed to continue promoting co-operation within sub-regional, regional, and international frameworks for the mutual benefit of both nations.
